What is NeoControl?

NeoControl® Pelvic Floor Therapy System is a non-surgical therapy for the treatment of stress, urge and mixed urinary incontinence in women. For patients whose incontinence is caused by a weakening of their pelvic floor muscles, NeoControl can offer unique therapeutic benefits. Unlike other therapy options, NeoControl powerfully exercises all of the muscles in the pelvic floor to rebuild strength and endurance and restore bladder control. NeoControl accomplishes this while the patient sits fully clothed in a comfortable chair. Additional studies and uses have effectively applied the technology to other conditions including, Chronic Pelvic Pain, Female Sexual Dysfunction, Male Erectile Dysfunction and Post Radical Prostactectomy Urinary Incontinence. So men, we absolutely welcome your needs in our private setting. There is no need to feel awkward.

The technology that makes this treatment possible is Extracorporeal Magnetic Innervation, or ExMI™ for short. Cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in June of 1998, NeoControl is the first product to utilize ExMI. The process is similar to Kegel exercises for the pelvic floor.

How NeoControl Works:
It's a lot simpler than you might think. ExMI technology produces highly focused pulsed magnetic fields. To receive treatment, patients simply sit in a comfortable chair that allows the therapeutic fields to be easily aimed at the muscles of the pelvic floor that control continence. The pelvic floor muscles contract and relax with each magnetic pulse, creating a physical exercise like any other muscular workout, except the brain is not directing the contraction - NeoControl is. One way to think of NeoControl is as an automatic Kegel exercise machine, yet differs in that the contractions involve all the muscles, are done at a level of power above that of a self-produced contraction and total more 18,000 in one twenty minute treatment. Other benefits are derived by stimulating increased blood flow, thus creating an overall benefit to the entire tissue region.

Improvements vary from patient to patient; however, in most cases, a patient will see the best results after undergoing a 20-minute treatment two to three times a week for a total of twenty treatments.

What are the success rates of patients treated with NeoControl?
Data from clinical studies at the Cleveland Clinic and sites in Chicago, Philadelphia and Orlando indicate that 50 percent of women who completed six weeks of NeoControl therapy reported being "completely dry" and an additional 30 percent reported "significant improvement" in their conditions. Additional studies detailing the results of various research centers as well as other therapeutic applications are included below.

How many patients have been treated with NeoControl?
More than 1 million NeoControl treatments had been delivered to patients suffering from incontinence worldwide. Since 2000, we at The Good Life Centre for Women have seen this technology benefit countless patients upon completion of treatment.

neocontrolwoman_sitting_130NeoControl Treatments:
Before receiving NeoControl treatment, a patient needs to be fully evaluated to make sure their bladder control problem is the type that can be helped by NeoControl therapy. Once it has been determined that the cause of the incontinence is weakened pelvic floor muscles, NeoControl may then be prescribed.

During treatment, a patient sits fully clothed in a specially designed chair that has the ExMI technology embedded in the seat. The treatments, which are typically performed two to three a week, are painless and take approxwhat_is_incontinence_180imately 20 minutes. A complete course of treatment should take just over six weeks to complete but may take eight weeks or more, depending on the condition of the pelvic floor muscles when therapy is started and patient scheduling. Scientific studies have shown that rebuilding the pelvic floor muscles with NeoControl is effective in helping patients regain continence. In addition, patients treated with NeoControl have reported significant improvements in their quality of life.

Once a patient completes a series of NeoControl treatments and regains or experiences marked improvement in continence, we offer advice on proper diet-voiding habits and exercise which can help ensure long-term freedom from the worries of urinary leakage. As with any muscle rebuilding program, unless continued exercising of the muscles is maintained, there could certainly be a loss of therapeutic effect. This is a very important aspect of long-term success of treatment. NeoControl Therapy is not appropriate for all patients. After consultation, we can determine if NeoControl is right for you. Give us a call today at (315) 475-8599, so you can come in for a free sample treatment.
